After completing an undergrad in architecture and design Gerald moved to the world of film and video production in 2010. First studying in Adelaide, then moving to Melbourne where he completed a Graduate Diploma in Film and Television at the Victorian College of the Arts.
Since then he has pursued a busy career first working as a best boy LX and also as a focus puller. During this time he gained experience on features, TV commercials, corporate films, live broadcast, short films and music videos.
From 2013 to 2021 Gerald served on the Victorian ACS committee including holding the position of Vice President for 2 years.
In 2016 Gerald formed Poached Egg Pictures, a boutique production company, with long term collaborator Christopher Talbot. This experience gives Gerald a unique understanding of how to collaborate with clients and agencies, manage budgets and assist in scheduling.
Since moving to a full time role as a cinematographer he has shot commercials for household names such as Dulux and Lovisa and corporate projects for Universities, primary producers, builders and tourism boards.
Gerald loves putting his skills to good use by working with non-profit organisations and has filmed for Guide Dogs Australia, cohealth and Cancer Council Victoria, among many others.
With a keen interest in filming interviews, Gerald has worked with a wide range of individuals across many demographics and understands the importance of showing compassion and understanding.
Most importantly he focuses on finding the essence of the message and conveying it visually.
